Call for Artists
Washington Square Art Gallery is a new fine art cooperative gallery. It
is located next to Pereddies Restaurant in Washington Square in Holland
MI. We are in need of a metal sculptor to join our gallery.
Some specifics:
$100 per month (includes utilities and phone and wireless)
90% of the income from the sale of the art goes to the artist
10% goes to the gallery for credit card machine and transactions, office supplies, etc.Current hours for the gallery are:
Wed & Thur 11am – 6pm, Fri & Sat 11am- 8pm
11.5 hours per month commitment to work the gallery is necessary.
However, we have some artists willing to work the hours for $7/hour.

Dear MABA,
I am a MABA member and the Chairman of the FORT
Primitive Skills Training committee for the Clinton Valley Boy Scout
Council in the northern suburbs of the Detroit area. As part of a
series of primitive skills training programs, we are conducting a
blacksmith training program for adult leaders and a Hammer-in for the
scouts annually. Our goal is to provide a hands-on blacksmithing
experience for about 200 boys and girls aged 11-18 during our annual
two day Hammer-in. During this event, each scout will make several
items, some for their unit, some for themselves. Hopefully many of them
will want to pursue blacksmithing or metalworking as a hobby or career.
As you can imagine, gathering the tools to
facilitate such an event is a major expense, we have a great start but
need more help. I would like to request the help of MABA in
accomplishing this by publishing our needs list and soliciting
donations of new or used tools from the MABA Membership
through the newsletter and/or website. The following is the list of the tools we still need:
2 - Anvils
2 - Leg Vises (Post Vise)
2 - Bench Vises
8 - 3# Hand Sledges or Cross Pein Hammers
1 - 5# Sledge Hammer 8 - Cross Pein and Straight Pein Hammers (600-1000gram)
24 - Ball Pein Hammers (all sizes)
8 - Rawhide Mallets
4 - Bending or Scrolling Wrenches (1/4" - 1/2")
